Surviving The Desk Job Health Crisis

Roughly 80% of Americans work at a desk or a job where they are sedentary. Whether this is at an office or at your home, sitting for multiple hours a day can have an effect on your health. Some of these health risks include:

-Poor posture and back pain

-Mental Fatigue

-Blue Light Exposure

-Overeating

-Dehydration

Let’s face it, we aren’t about to quit our day job anytime soon, so now is the time to do what we can to focus on our health. There are several ways that you can combat these health risks associated with working at a desk.

Always have water near you.

Many of us can relate to having days where you are so busy you don’t remember to eat or even drink water. An easy way to combat dehydration at work is to always have water near you. The HydroJug is perfect for that because depending on which size you get, it holds up to a gallon of water and you will be able to drink water all day without refilling your water.

We also suggest you try our insulating Sleeves. These help keep your water cooler, reduce sweating to keep your desk clean and dry, and they come in fun colors to add some excitement to your desk.

Our newest Sleeve Collection -Untamed- is releasing Saturday May 21 at 9 am pst. These bright and colorful Sleeves make it easy to transport your water to and from work, and they will stand out in the workplace.

Try A Standing Desk Or Exercise Ball.

Poor posture and back pain is one of the most common side effects of sitting at a desk all day. Because of this, there have been several products released that help combat it. One method you could try is to get a standing desk and try to alternate between sitting and standing every hour. You could also get an ergonomic chair or replace your chair with an exercise ball to improve posture.

Wear Blue Light Glasses.

The blue light that comes off of the screens that we are exposed to everyday can be responsible for blurry vision, eye strain, headaches, dry eyes, and more severe side effects can occur over time. The screens aren’t going away any time soon, so it is a good idea to invest in Blue Light Glasses. There are many options out there. Hundreds of styles and a price range that will fit every budget.

Take breaks.

Mental fatigue and brain fog can be hard to work through. A good way to combat it is to take small breaks throughout the day. This can be as simple as standing up and stretching for a few minutes, or going outside for a little bit to get some fresh air. It is important to give your brain time to rest and reset. It may even increase productivity.

Take meetings on the go.

With today’s modern technology meetings in stuffy conference rooms are becoming a thing of the past. Try to take your meetings on the go. Walking outside or on a treadmill is a great way to ensure that you are moving your body and staying active during the day. A body that is awake leads to a mind that is awake as well.

Bring healthy snacks to work.

Instead of snacking on candy or chips, try to bring some healthier snacks to work. Things like sliced veggies or fruit make a great healthy alternative.
