5 Tips To Feel More Confident In The Gym

March 23, 2023 2 min read

Whether you're just starting your fitness journey or switching to a new gym, it can be intimidating to workout in a place you don't know. For many people the gym can be a very intimidating place with a confusing layout, complicated machines, and patrons who seem intimidating to a beginner. However, we believe that everyone deserves a place in a gym, so we've come up with 5 tips you can try to help you feel more comfortable.

Plan your workout before going to the gym.

Planning a head is the number one way to ease anxiety. Try planning out your workout before heading into the gym. You could even think of some alternate exercises to do if the gym is busy and you can't use the equipment that you want.

Save workouts that you like.

Social media is full of free workouts from fitness influencers and personal trainers. While you're scrolling through social media, keep an eye out for workouts that you want to try and save them for later. This way you can reference them when you're at the gym.

There are many trainers that demonstrate proper form and how to do certain exercises. If you're feeling a lack of confidence performing certain movements, save some of these videos as well.

Workout with a friend.

Everything is less intimidating when you have a friend with you. Working out with a friend can also encourage you to go harder during your workout and hold you accountable to your fitness goals. Challenge each other and have fun seeing what you can accomplish!

Wear clothing that makes you feel good.

Clothing plays a huge factor in how confident that you feel in the gym. If you're not feeling comfortable in an outfit before you go, change into something that makes you feel your best. There are so many different styles you see people wearing in the gym, and as long as you feel great in what you’re wearing, that's all that matters.

Try to accept where you are in your fitness journey.

Whether it is your first day in the gym or your 1,000th, try to give yourself the credit you deserve. You are taking a huge step in your fitness journey by even going to the gym. Fitness is a lifelong journey and there will be highs and lows throughout. Just remember that you're doing something, and something is always better than nothing.

Don't let gym anxiety hold you back from reaching your fitness goals. Remember that everyone deserves a place in the gym and that everyone in the gym was a beginner once too.
