Before you start, here are a few quick tips to make your infused water taste even better (and stay fresh):

Quick tips for better infused water

  • Give it time: Most fruit-infused water tastes best after it has time to chill. If you’re in a hurry, use frozen fruit – it cools your water and adds flavor faster.
  • Go easy on citrus peels: Lemon or grapefruit peels can turn bitter if left too long. If you’re making it ahead, consider removing slices after a few hours.
  • Keep it cold and clean: Infused water is best stored in the refrigerator. Food safety guidance also recommends not leaving cut fruit out at room temperature for more than 2 hours.   • How long does infused water last? Extension guidance suggests infused water left at room temp should be used or discarded after about 4 hours, and refrigerated infused water is best consumed within about 3 days (for best quality and safety).
