Everyone knows that exercise is good for you. It’s good for your body, it keeps you fit, and makes you feel accomplished. However, people may not know that it benefits your mind just as much as your body. Even walking for as little as 30 minutes a day can do wonders for your mental health. Reduces stress

Most people in the world experience stress on some level. Exercise is a natural way to relieve daily stress and anxiety. Exercise, even for a little bit, can act as a distraction from what is going on in your life. It takes you out of your brain and into your body. Generally when you exercise you are more focused and aware of how your body is feeling. 


Releases happy brain chemicals

Your body releases endorphins during exercise. These chemicals interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perceptions of pain, they also can trigger positive feelings in your body. Most people after exercising experience a “high” or “accomplishment” that comes from these happy chemicals being released. These positive feelings are crucial to improving your mental health.



Improves sleep

When you exercise, you expend more energy during the day. This means that your body may feel more tired at the end of the day and you will experience much deeper sleep. 



More energy, focus, and productivity

It may sound strange that exercise can actually give you more energy, however it does. Exercise helps your cardiovascular system operate more efficiently by carrying oxygen and nutrients to your tissues. It helps your lungs and heart to be healthier as well, and this in turn gives you more energy throughout the day. 


Exercise also has benefits for focus and mental clarity. The endorphins that get released during exercise help you concentrate more easily. They can help to stimulate the growth of new brain cells and prevent your brain function from declining.



Improved self confidence!

Having more self confidence is a big part of improving your mental health. The phrase “If you look good, you feel good.” is usually pretty accurate for most people. Exercise helps you to feel good about yourself. If you’re loving yourself more, you will naturally feel more content and positive about your life and your situations.
