HydroJug FAQs

Hydration should be simple. This FAQ hub gives you clear, quick answers about HydroJug bottles – from sizes and cup-holder fit to cleaning, care, lids, materials, safety, warranty, and replacement parts.

Sizes & Cup-Holder Fit

Which HydroJug sizes fit a standard car cup holder?
Smaller-base bottles fit most standard holders best. Compare your vehicle’s holder inner diameter with the bottle’s base diameter shown on each product page or in the Size & Cup-Holder Fit Guide.

Where can I see base diameters and heights?
Dimensions are listed on every product page and summarized on HydroJug Facts.

How do I measure my car’s cup holder?
Measure the inner diameter at the tightest point and compare to the bottle’s base; leave a little clearance so it slides in/out easily.

Do large bottles fit treadmill or elliptical holders?
Many gym machines use smaller holders. Check base diameter vs the machine’s opening; when in doubt, choose a smaller base.

Will bottles fit stroller pockets or backpack sleeves?
Measure the pocket opening and depth; compare with base diameter and height on the Product Page or Fit Guide.

Which sizes are best for kids or smaller hands?
Pick lighter capacities and shorter heights. Check weight when full and choose what’s comfortable to carry.

What if my holder has a rubber grip or tabs?
Those reduce usable diameter; compare the tightest point to the bottle base.

Do can coolers fit car cup holders?
Standard can coolers often fit; slim models vary. Confirm base diameter on the Product Page.

Cleaning & Care

Are HydroJug bottles and lids dishwasher-safe?
Traveler: dishwasher safe.
Sport bottles: top rack.
Pro Jug (BPA-free plastic): top rack (lay on side if needed).
Insulated/stainless bodies: top-rack safe; hand-wash recommended to preserve finishes.
Disassemble lids and straws first; follow the Product Page if it differs.

What’s the fastest daily clean?
Disassemble, wash with warm soapy water, brush straw and spout, rinse well, and air-dry open and separated with lid off and straw flipped up.

How often should I deep clean?
Weekly, or any time you’ve used sweet, dairy, or flavored drinks. Soak parts for 15–20 minutes, brush channels and threads, rinse thoroughly, air-dry fully.

Best way to clean the straw and lid channels?
Use a straw brush end-to-end and a small detail brush for lid channels; rinse until water runs clear.

How do I remove odors from BPA-free plastic?
Use one method: baking-soda soak; diluted white-vinegar rinse ; vanilla towel overnight; or coffee grounds overnight – then wash and rinse until no scent remains. (Don’t combine vinegar and baking soda.)

Can I microwave or freeze HydroJug products?
No – do not microwave or freeze.

Lids, Straws & Compatibility

Which lids fit my model and size?
Compatibility varies by line. Each collection and size has its own lids and straws.

Are straws interchangeable across models?
No, each model has its own straws.

How do I reseat a rubber gasket or seal?
Start at one end of the groove and press around evenly until the gasket sits flat with no twists.

How tight should I close the lid?
Snug, not over-tight. Over-tightening can stress threads and seals; ensure threads are aligned first.

Where can I buy official replacements?
Visit Accessories for lids and straws by model and size. Sleeves, boots, and keychains are also available.
Note: Individual gaskets aren’t sold separately; they’re integrated with compatible lids.

Materials & Safety

What materials do you use?
Bottles are made from 18/8 stainless steel or BPA-free plastics, depending on the line.

Are materials food-safe?
Yes – HydroJug uses food-grade materials appropriate to each product line. Follow care instructions on each product page.

Can I use hot liquids?
Most lids are designed primarily for cold hydration. If hot use is allowed, open slowly to vent pressure and clean lid channels more often.

Is it safe for carbonated beverages?
Not recommended for most lids. If used, open slowly over a sink and clean lid channels more frequently.

Do bottles sweat or condense?
Insulated stainless options help reduce condensation. Single-wall plastics can sweat with very cold drinks in humid conditions – use a sleeve or coaster.

Use & Performance

How do I keep drinks cold longer?
Pre-chill the bottle in the fridge, add ice and cold liquid, keep the lid closed when not sipping, and avoid prolonged heat exposure.

Can I put boiling water in my bottle?
Most products are for cold hydration only; boiling water can build pressure and risk injury.

Are bottles safe for sports drinks or electrolytes?
Yes – rinse promptly after use and wash the same day to prevent residue.

Can I carry my bottle in a backpack or gym bag?
Yes – make sure the lid is fully closed or locked. Keep bottles upright to reduce the chance of moisture from condensation.

Can I bring my bottle through airport security (TSA)?
Empty bottles are typically allowed through security; fill after screening.

Any tips to avoid flavor carryover?
Use separate bottles for strong flavors if possible; deep clean weekly and use the odor-reset methods as needed.

Customization

Can I customize my HydroJug?
Yes – see Customize page for options. Etching is permanent.

Does customization change cleaning?
No – follow usual care rules. Hand-wash is recommended to preserve exterior finishes over time.

Can customized items be returned?
See Returns for policy details.

Troubleshooting & Parts

My bottle leaks – what should I check first?

  1. Gasket seated flat, no twists or gaps
  2. Threads aligned, not cross-threaded
  3. Straw fully inserted and intact
  4. If it still leaks, replace the worn lid or straw.

The straw is hard to draw through – what now?
Check for blockages, clean with a straw brush, and confirm the straw is the correct length and fully seated.

My gasket keeps popping out – any tips?
Inspect for stretching or nicks. Reseat from one end evenly around the groove; replace the lid if it won’t stay flat.

When should I replace parts?
Straws: split, cloudy, loose, or hard draw after cleaning.
Lids: lock or closure no longer seals firmly, or hinge or flip is damaged.
Shop official lids and straws by model and size on the Accessories page.
